Alexander picked out this cactus at the nursery. He really likes the flower on top and how "it protects itself by being poky." We potted it outside and he wanted to leave it there, but I told him it needed to live inside because cacti like warm, dry areas like the desert. So every day he climbs up high to this bookshelf (where the baby can't reach it) and carefully takes it down to the floor where he places it in front of the heater vent because, "my cactus needs to get warm."
